Brooklyn stand up... ATL stand up... Houston stand up... Andrea in please Korea stand up...
This week has been an interesting week - I have a few intriguing things to share. Here's one: In our daily "what did you watch on tv last night" discussion at the office, I was taken aback to learn that a few non urbanites are watching and enjoying "The Housewives of Atlanta". Word. I'm not talking about the "urban" non urbanites... I'm talking about the Minnesota born, Coors lite drinking, Wrangler wearing, big buckle on their belts types. As the only brotha in the office, I was speechless. I'm just saying, isn't "The Housewives of Atlanta" one of those "buffoonery train wreck" shows? I look forward to being a little more loose around the office every once in awhile now - heck, I might have to drop a mos def on them whenever I get my next chance to blast the 'song of the day'.
I guess this is all good. I should only hope that they understand that not all of us partake in the odd behaviors put on display.
Whitney Houston is looking good... the local radio station re-dubbed her infamous "crack is whack" statement a few days ago, but she looks to be fully recovered from her ills, as she will be the first guest on the 24th season of Oprah. Whitney also has an album slated for August 31st. The album is titled "I Look To You" and looks to be highly anticipated. Does she still have it?? Will you cop it? I haven't heard a pre-release song yet, but I'll be scouring the world to find something on this.
Raheem DeVaughn is mos definitely "SWAG Official" - dude really did grind to get in the game, and dude is still on it. He is one of the only R&B dudes that speak often about making mixtapes and simply doing it for the people (aka free of charge). His mixtape dropped in June - cop it here. I'm always open to checking out free mixtapes, so I'll keep you posted as I tune in (or out).
And to boot, here's some really gripping info... in fact, I think that it is almost newsworthy. Ghostface Killa (with Raheem DeVaughn) has a new song titled "Baby" and it is actually official. Why? Well, it's really about Baby, the essence of man being there for woman. It's something totally different from what you typically here in Hip Hop. I'm not gonna crack the can open on this too much more... I'll let you peep the video - actually the making of the video - for your'delf.
And if it's a girl, oh, just like her mamma she gone be so fly,
What a joy we make, from the love we make, yeaaaaaaahhhh.
